Chapter 135 Horde Invasion: Unfortunate Events
The gold and white wisps danced around the katana and scabbard. Lee Seng rushed forward and swung. Just as the katana was about to connect with the black veined goblin, Lee Seng released the wisps just like he had practiced. The katana grazed the goblin and the wisps rushed at the goblin. Lee Seng pulled away, jumping backwards. Just as quick as Lee Seng released the wisps, he watched the wisps rip at the goblin and move back at him.
The wisps rushed back into Lee Seng\'s katana. Lee Seng felt the familiar charge of the Dark Matter flowing into his body through the wisps and smiled. He rushed forward, again, swinging at the black veined goblin. Each swing released the wisps and lightly sliced at the black veined goblin\'s reinforced body. The goblin shrieked as Dark Matter continued to be pulled away from it.
The goblin pushed through the pain and blocked. It shoved Lee Seng away and retreated backwards. Lee Seng twirled his blade and smiled.
"I guess you don\'t like that, huh?" Lee Seng shook his head. "Test two, devouring plus gravity." Lee Seng rushed forward at the black veined goblin and swung at him. The goblin began to block each attack, making sure Lee Seng couldn\'t get a sneaky hit on him. Each swing that impacted released a blast of gravity and wisps. Lee Seng continued to barrage the goblin with attacks. The goblin\'s hand released the bat and Lee Seng quickly slammed the scabbard into the goblin\'s stomach.
Gravity and wisps erupted out of the scabbard and Lee Seng watched as the goblin flew backwards. Wisps rushed back to Lee Seng. The familiar charge of Dark Matter entering his body made him feel rejuvenated.
\'A success.\' Lee Seng watched the goblin shriek in pain as it took two blows in one hit. Red and green runes erupted around the goblin and Lee Seng watched a huge tornado of fire blast forth. Lee Seng shielded his face as the heat of the fire tornado engulfed the black veined goblin. The goblin screeched for quite awhile before it hushed.
The flames and hot winds died down and Lee Seng unshielded himself. He looked at the group. Jason, Felicia, and Ritsuka were rejoining Rose and Sir Xavier while Kory and the sword warrior were finishing up killing some goblin stragglers.
"Well, I guess that answers that." Sir Xavier clapped. Lee Seng sheathed his katana and rejoined the group. Kory and the sword warrior rejoined and looked around.
"Ah, they\'re dead." Tristan, the sword warrior observed.
"Told you they weren\'t useless." Kory boasted. Tristan smacked Kory across the head and shook his head.
"You didn\'t think they were good. I guess that answers your question. They can support Sir Xavier and Rose well."
"Well, does that settle all of the goblins?" Sir Xavier asked. Lee Seng couldn\'t tell if anything else was near. The forest had gone silent, again. He nodded at Sir Xavier.
"I think that\'s it." Lee Seng said. He pulled the mask off and allowed the gold and white wisp aura to continue to move around him. "Are we getting closer to the base?"
"Just a couple of more minutes." Rose spoke. "I figure since Sir Xavier lit up the sky, we might get some friends coming our way." Sir Xavier held Rose who clutched at a stab wound on her side.
"We should continue to the base, then." Felicia said. "Miss Rose needs to be treated."
"This isn\'t so bad." Rose chuckled, pushing through the pain. "I\'ve had worse."
"Doesn\'t mean we should ignore it." Tristan spoke up. "Let\'s go."
Sir Xavier and Tristan supported Rose as they continued forward. The group moved at a slower pace. Kory led the way with his staff on his shoulder. He casually swung the staff while Sir Xavier, Rose and Tristan made small talk.
Lee Seng and the others hung in the back. Ritsuka had released Angerfang and swung his arms at his side. Jason flexed his hands and stared at his arm scars, making sure everything was in place. Felicia happily marched ahead of the three boys and shortly behind Rose and the others.
"Fighting with another group really makes those goblins easier, huh?" Ritsuka asked.
"Mmm, they do. They\'re skilled adventurers too. Miss Rose\'s electricity seemed to stun those goblins with ease." Jason added. "I wonder what their ranking is."
"Sir Xavier must be at least a B-rank, right?" Lee Seng asked. "His runic magic is strong. I haven\'t seen something like that even with Number 2."
"Ahh, that\'s why you\'re so familiar with the runic magic." Ritsuka pointed at Lee Seng. Lee Seng nodded. "I was wondering how you could figure that out so easily. Is runic magic always that powerful?"
"Those who have runic magic can fully use the runes power at its fullest. Number 2 rarely used his runic magic, so I don\'t have much to work with. I would assume it would be something of Sir Xavier\'s caliber."
"Maybe even more powerful than Sir Xavier."
"It could be, but he seems like the leader of the group." Jason spoke. The three boys nodded and continued forward. The forest began to open in front of them. Lee Seng could see the base in the distance.
"Halt." Sir Xavier spoke. The group stopped and Lee Seng looked around. Before he could ask why they had stopped, he finally heard adventurers dropping from the treetops.
"Scout group, 4R, reporting." A scout spoke into the collar of his jacket. "We\'ve found some adventurers." Sir Xavier pulled away from Rose and moved to the scout standing in the middle of the pathway.
"I thought you were headed to SW point 4." The female scout asked. She wore an eyepatch and a bandanna on her head. Sir Xavier chuckled and shook his head.
"We made it three-fourths of the way when we met the powered hobgoblin and the goblins." Sir Xavier said.
"Why is Academy students with you? They\'re under Number 9\'s watch. Where is she?" The female scout asked. Sir Xavier turned and motioned for the students to come forward.
"She told us to come back here." Lee Seng spoke. The scouts raised their weapons at Lee Seng and the female scout threw her hand up to make the scouts not shoot at Lee Seng.
"This one I was informed about." The female scout leader nodded. "She told you to come back. Why?"
"The hobgoblin... It..." Felicia started.
"It what?"
"It killed the adventurers near us. I heard it all. Bodies crushed and impaled like nothing. That hobgoblin wanted to kill us but Akali saved us by fighting it and forcing us to retreat." Lee Seng answered. The female scout leader nodded.
"Lower your weapons. Take a good look, 4R. This one\'s on our side." The female scout leader pointed. She began to turn and the scouts began to regroup. "Let\'s lead our allies to the base. We must inform the rest of the groups out there about the hobgoblins."
The scout leader lead the way as the scouts started to surround the group. A couple of scouts moved into the treetops and they all began to walk towards the base.
The base was exactly as Lee Seng remembered it being. People posted in their spots with added adventurers wandering in and out of the forests to their points. The scout leader moved off to the side and motioned to the door.
"Take them to the medics. After they\'re healed, have Sir Xavier and the students report to the Head." The scout leader instructed. Two posted adventurers saluted and opened the doors. The two groups headed inside with the guards following behind. They moved past the group and motioned for the group to follow them right.
They moved past three doors before reaching the hospital wing.
"Anyone hurt please get healed here." A guard motioned behind him.
"Well, let\'s take Rose in." Sir Xavier spoke. "Youthful ones, if you are injured get checked too, alright?"
"Yes, sir." The students spoke. They watched as Sir Xavier and the others slowly moved into the fourth door on the right.
"Well, I guess we should get checked out then?" Jason asked.
"Mmm, that goblin steel hurts." Felicia rubbed her face. "I feel like my nose got caved in." Jason and Felicia led the group past the two guards. Lee Seng noticed they were staring at Lee Seng.
"That\'s..." One of the guards murmured. "Lee Seng Chang, right?" The other guard elbowed the guard as the group of students passed. They moved into the next available room. Two workers in lab coats were talking when the group stepped in.
"Ah, we got more people." A red head woman spoke. She pushed herself onto her feet and set her drink down. The man leaning against the desk stood up and the two of them turned to greet the group. The man\'s eyes landed on Lee Seng and quickly adverted his eyes away. "Y\'all need to get some healing done? Any serious injuries?"
"No, just a lot of bruising and maybe a broken nose." Felicia pointed. The woman ushered Felicia over and began to heal her.
"Alright, who wants next?" The man asked. Ritsuka and Jason turned to look at Lee Seng.
"You should go, Lee Seng." Ritsuka patted his back. "You probably took the most hits out of all of us."
"Oh, I feel fine though." Lee Seng smiled. The gold and white wisps danced around him and he flexed.
"Just get double checked." Jason shoved him forward. Lee Seng nodded and the man motioned him onto the next bed. Lee Seng released the wisps and allowed the man to check him.
